About
VSA Alabama’s annual Traveling Exhibit features a selection of artwork by people with disabilities from two of VSA Alabama’s signature exhibitions: Creativity – Art in the Magic City , a statewide juried art exhibit celebrating work by adult Alabama artists with disabilities annually held at the AT&T Alabama Operations Center; and CreativeFest, an inclusive exhibit displayed in Children’s Hospital of Alabama comprised of work by school-age children from across the state. The Traveling Exhibit tours the state for six months beginning in May. At the conclusion of the tour, the show traditionally hangs in the Alabama State Capitol in Montgomery for the month of October, and a closing reception is held for all the artists and their families with special guest Governor Bob Riley and a musical performance by one of VSA Alabama’s Young Soloists!
The artwork is meant to inspire all who view it, and each piece is accompanied by the individual story of the artist. Most of the work in the traveling show is for sale, and the money raised directly benefits the artist. A tax-deductible portion of the purchase price also helps VSA Alabama sustain its mission. For artwork purchases, please contact Meagan Vucovich, Project Coordinator.
